Imported from the Republic of Congo, Wenge is dark brown with fine close blackish veining. It is a hard wood with a coarse texture. It is beautiful in woodworking projects or as an inlay or accent. Wenge can become nearly black with an oil wood finish. It is dark enough that it is often used as a substitute for ebony.
