Basswood has earned its place as one of the most beloved laser materials in the crafting community, and our Finished Basswood takes it a step further. The factory-applied finish is done in-house, which means every piece comes off your laser ready to sell, gift, or ship — no sanding, no sealing, no hand finishing, no inconsistency.

That pre-finished surface does something else too: engraved areas contrast beautifully against it, giving your detailed artwork, fine lines, and delicate textures a crisp, professional result that hand-finishing simply can't replicate consistently.

Basswood or Baltic Birch? Both are excellent laser materials — but they're not the same. Basswood has fewer, thicker plies with a soft, even surface that's ideal for fine detail work, intricate artwork, and delicate textures. Baltic Birch has many thin cross-laminated layers that make it stiffer, stronger, and nearly void-free — better for dimensional engraving and pieces where durability matters. If you're not sure which is right for your project, basswood is the natural starting point for most laser crafters.

Available in 1/16", 1/8", and 1/4" thickness at 12x12" and 12x18" — compatible with both CO2 and diode laser cutters.
