How to Make a Snow Globe: Easy DIY Guide with Free File Download

Snow globes may look complicated, but they’re actually easy and fun to make! Whether you're crafting for a holiday gift, seasonal decor, or just a creative afternoon project, this guide will walk you through the process step by step.

We’re offering a free downloadable file on our website to help you get started—just download, cut, and assemble!

Helpful Hints for Success

Here are some tips to make your snow globe crafting experience smoother:

Flexible assembly: You can change the order of the pieces or even leave some out, depending on the final look you want to achieve.

Resizing made simple: Want a bigger or smaller snow globe? You can resize the file to any size—just remember to resize the slits for the base so your acrylic still fits!

Follow the file order: Start at the top left corner of the file and proceed in order to assemble it correctly.

Light up your globe: Put the lights in before covering the light channel piece to ensure they fit securely.

Add extra sparkle: Add beads and sprinkles before attaching the snowflake piece for that magical snowy effect.

Skip the snowflakes if you want: Not a fan of snowflakes? You can simply ignore the engraving step for them.

Assemble the branch and bird: The tree branch needs to be glued into the little slit provided. Then glue the bird and holly onto the branch for a charming winter scene.

A Few More Assembly Tips

  • Use the optional clear or glitter acrylic piece to help hold the lights in place while making assembly easier.

  • The base should be cut twice out of 1/4” material to make it sturdy—remember to resize the slits if you resize the file!
