Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I first learned of my love for creating things from a sewing project in school, and since then haven’t stopped. Prior to purchasing my laser I enjoyed painting, woodworking and jewelry making. Owning a laser lets me combine all those loves. Little did I know that soon after I would be opening an Etsy shop and designing files for others. I am also a wife, a dog mom and a full-time medical coding analyst.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Creative, caring and a sense of humor.
What is your favorite type of material to work with and why?
That’s a hard question because I love switching things up and love the flexibility of what my laser can cut. Currently I am loving melamine/whiteboard because of the prefinished surface. But I also love mixing different species of wood together.
What is a project you are proud of and why?
I am probably most proud of my wall jewelry display. I wanted to offer a file for a large display that didn’t involve kerf or sizing of slots and was easy to assemble. By incorporating three layers of wood held together with wooden craft pegs I was able to create a 17 x 15 jewelry display that holds over 60 pairs of earrings plus several necklaces. It looks like a simple design but the challenge was hiding all the seams and lining up the peg holes for three layers of wood.
What do you do to get in the zone for crafting?
Just breathing! lol It doesn’t take much.
Who inspires you and why?
Makers that have turned their fun hobby into a successful business. I also give credit to my husband Dave for always encouraging me and helping me prepare orders.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of crafting?
Enjoying the outdoors, being on the water and biking.
